Captain Jack, a retired Coast Guard Captain, is a licensed (Any Ocean) Master in the Merchant Marine, and is a fully licensed Alaskan Salt-water Guide.  Besides guaranteeing that you will see a whale, the principal objective is that you will have a most enjoyable and memorable experience. Ketchikan, Alaska

  • Kayak Eco Tour - $94 pp

Departs the wharf morning or midday and runs for 4 hours

Enjoy peaceful kayaking on the protected waters of Alaska’s Inside Passage. Take a slow and personal tour as you peruse the shorelines of rainforest islands in search of wildlife large and small, aboard stable and easy sea kayaks.Your local professional guide will not only teach you kayaking skills, they will also share vast information about the incredible array of tidal critters and larger marine life in the area.  Eco-tour follows rough jagged shorelines, and does not involve open water crossings.  No ocean surf or swell.  A large numbers of bald eagles, sea stars, sea lions, seals, and sometimes humpback and orca whales inhabit the area.  This tour is about more than just kayaking.  It is a paddling adventure combined with an educational eco-tour, providing the perfect blend of outdoor excercise and hands-on interaction.  Please note: No experience necessary.
  • Alaskan Zodiac Safari - $157 pp

Departs morning or midday for 2.5 hours from Ketchikan Outdoor Store

Take command of your own boat while following a guide out into the wilds of Alaska.  You get to explore hidden inlets and coves while searching for the vast amount of wildlife that thrives here.  Often we see whales, eagles, bears, seal, sea lions and many other types of marine life.  The boats are custom built 14’ Zodiacs and hold four passengers.  Couples will be required to share the boat with other couples, but parties of four will have a boat to themselves.  These boats can cruise at a swift speed and at times will become bumpy so we ask that our guests be able to handle some bouncing and tousling. However the Hot Chocolate or Hot Cider at the end of the tour will help iron out the bumps. You will get to see a large amount of the Ketchikan region in a short period of time. This activity should be counted as strenuous due to the bumpy water and the requirement to get into and out of the boats.
These are some of the shore excursions available we can book before you cruise. Save yourself paying for tours in USD and prebook them beforehand. Ask our consultants for more details.
