Regional NSW’s appetite for electric vehicles (EVs) was on full display across a weekend of test drives, event stalls and informational seminars.

Regional NSW’s inaugural NRMA public electric vehicle drive days – held over 17–18 September – have wrapped, with the Riverina town of Wagga playing host to a ‘sold-out’ weekend of EV education and fun to over 300 attendees.

Following the success of the first public drive day held in Ku-ring-gai earlier this year, Wagga’s own drive days proved NSW’s regional areas also have a healthy appetite for EVs – not just its cities.

More than 200 test drive bookings were made before the event, exhausting the near-200 test drive allocations a team of 8 trained driving instructors could provide using NRMA- and SIXT-supplied EVs.

On hand to provide information was the ACT chapter of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association, the Good Car Company, Riverina Electric Vehicle Owners Likes and Testers and the Tesla Owners Club of Australia.

A true EV event, display vehicles weren’t limited to just electric cars – with Gleeson’s Twin City Harley-Davidson providing a LiveWire electric motorcycle and IRONe electric children’s balance bike for viewing and Evoke Motorcycles displaying their evoke electric motorcycle and a Doohan Itank Electric scooter.

One of the NRMA’s own EV fast charging stations was on display, closely coinciding with the launch of our 48th station across the state, and supported by ‘Electrifying Our Highways’ talks to explain the NRMA’s investment in regional charging infrastructure.

Keep your eyes peeled for our next drive day in Newcastle on 26 November 2022.

We look forward to seeing you there #driveanEV
