Weekly special

The idyllic Horseshoe Bay Holiday Park offers a true escape from the daily grind.

Positioned directly on a sheltered beach and cradled on two sides by creeks, you'll be relaxed within nature. The shops and restaurants of South West Rocks are just moments away and the diverse attractions of the entire Macleay Valley Coast are within easy reach.

The park

The scenic beachside town of South West Rocks is just 30 minutes’ drive from Kempsey, 3.5 hours from Newcastle or five from Sydney. The park enjoys an absolute beachfront location with calm waters, and there’s also great family friendly swimming in Back Creek adjacent to the site. Beautiful views of the ocean, creeks and nearby mountains create a sense of calm throughout the holiday park, and the accommodation is generously spaced out. Essentials such as gas, ice and laundry facilities are provided, and the best cafes, restaurants and shops in South West Rocks are all within a five minute walk. The park welcomes dogs outside high season, a dog friendly policy does apply.

The accommodation

Instead of multiple site classes and a multitude of options, the park offers one type of site that’s suitable for almost everyone. The spacious (8x10m), grassy, powered sites are great for tents, RVs and caravans, and are conveniently located within range of free wifi, close to the amenities block and barbecue. Cabins are similarly simple – choose between a one bedroom, which sleeps up to five in a double bed and triple bunk, or a two bedroom, which sleeps up to six offering a queen bed and two single bunks. All cabins have kitchenettes, TV and covered verandahs.

The neighbourhood

Once you’ve explored the beachfront and the creeks, visit some of the area’s fascinating historical sites, such as Trial Bay Gaol, which is located at the eastern end of the bay, about 5km from the holiday park. Smoky Cape Lighthouse is one of the oldest and tallest lighthouses in Australia, and boasts spectacular views (it’s also a great spot for whale watching between May and November). Nearby, at Captain Cook’s lookout, you can join the Smoky Cape walking track, an easy walk that meanders through one of Australia’s largest remnant littoral rainforests. Adventurous souls should mount an expedition to Fish Rock Cave, 2km offshore, considered one of the best dive sites in the world. Contact Fish Rock Dive Centre or South West Rocks Dive Centre for tours. In town, you’ll find impressive cafe food and reliably good coffee at Malt & Honey; quick and ultra fresh stir fries at Thai on the Rocks; and pub grub, beer and cocktails at the Riverside Tavern.
