If it’s a tropical holiday you want, NRMA Cairns Holiday Park couldn’t be more perfect.

Located in the middle of Cairns, where you’ll find not one but two World Heritage listed areas (the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree National Park), it provides the perfect base from which to explore all the delights of this buzzing Tropical North Queensland holiday destination.

The park

The park suits a wide range of holidaymakers – from families wanting great facilities to caravan and motorhome owners looking for a central base and excellent sites. The park is situated a 15 minute walk or five minute drive from the CBD, and staff will be more than happy to help you book any of the myriad activities on offer in the region. On your days off from touring, find a shady spot in the well kept grounds and relax, dipping in the pool and enjoying facilities such as the open air kitchens, barbecues and air conditioned TV room. Pet friendly, consider it your home away from home – with better weather.

The accommodation

The good range of budget friendly accommodation at the park caters to backpackers and worldly travellers alike. The quality lodgings and excellent customer service, plus state of the art facilities, combine to make your stay all the more enjoyable. Couples and small families will delight in the open plan lodgings in the eastern corner of the park, close to the camp kitchens. Featuring a double bed and an overhead single bunk, the lodges also have air conditioning, a bar fridge, TV and Foxtel. Larger groups and families will want to take advantage of the different powered and unpowered sites, some with ensuite access, which can sleep up to six adults.

The neighbourhood

There’s no need to gild the lily here: Cairns is a tropical paradise, with all that that statement implies. Stage your own island castaway scene on one of its arcing white sandy beaches. Lose yourself in the Daintree Rainforest. Stroll The Esplanade at sunset. Visit Kuranda Village and marvel at the Indigenous artefacts, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and the Skyrail. Go whitewater rafting on the mighty Tully River. Snorkel directly off the beach in the turquoise water paradise of Green Island. Visit Centenary Lakes and Flecker Botanical Gardens, ideal if you like an easy but natural walk – Botanic cafe in the gardens is a great spot for coffee or a cold drink. Or just sit at the end of the marina’s long pier and watch the mountains change colour as the sun sets, and all the dive and fishing boats return to shore.
