The former whaling town of Victor Harbor is an easy 75 minute drive from Adelaide and 90 minutes from Port Adelaide. The park is ideally located in the centre of town and is bordered on two sides by the Inman River, with a beautiful beach along the southern border. It’s one of the best equipped holiday parks in the state, featuring high quality facilities for kids including a waterpark, pump track, playground and jumping pillow, plus amenities for all ages such as a heated pool and TV/games room. Free school holiday activities provide even more fun for children. There’s also free Foxtel in cabins and free wifi throughout the park.
Whether you’re planning to camp, rent a cabin or splurge on a villa, the park has plenty of options. There are smaller powered and unpowered sites for tents and small campervans, plus larger powered sites for caravans and motorhomes, and powered ensuite sites for those who’d prefer their own bathroom facilities. Studio cabins are ideal for couples, while one and two bedroom cabin sleep four and five people respectively. The spacious ocean breeze villas sleep four and the seaview family villas sleep six. Studios, cabins and villas are all equipped with air conditioning and TVs with DVD players and Foxtel. Villas and larger cabins also have verandahs with barbecues.
Begin your holiday with Victor Harbor’s quintessential experience – a ride on the only horse drawn tramway in Australia. The tram, which dates back to the late 1800s, connects the town with striking Granite Island along a 630m causeway. The island is home to a colony of little penguins that parade at dusk – pencil in a tour at Victor Harbor Visitor Centre to catch them in action. For an exhilarating waterborne experience, book a trip with Big Duck Boat Tours, where you’ll see seals, whales (from June to September) and dramatic stretches of coastline that are inaccessible from land. Whether or not you spot a whale, a post cruise visit to the South Australian Whale Centre is reliably entertaining. After a day’s sightseeing, enjoy fresh seafood, regional wine and ocean views at Eat @ Whalers, fill up on Italian at local institution Nino’s, or try authentic Mexican food at Loco. For a waffle brunch or caffeine hit, make a beeline for Belicious.
