NRMA announces Mazda6 Touring Australias best car

The NRMA has today announced the 15 winners of the 2016 Australia's Best Cars awards, with the Judges' Choice award taken out by popular family car, the Mazda6 Touring.

Run by the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) on behalf of its member clubs, including the NRMA, Australia's Best Cars is the largest independent new car assessment and awards program in Australia.

It puts more than 150 vehicles through their paces each year against criteria such as Value for Money, Design and Function, and On the Road Performance.

The Mazda6 touring beat the Subaru Liberty (2nd) and Kia Optima (3rd) for the coveted Medium Under $50,000 category and also won the Judges' Choice Award.

NSW Best Cars Judge and NRMA Digital Motoring Editor Jaedene Hudson said the awards program gave Australians the information they needed when considering which car was right for them.

"The 15 category winners of this year's Australia's Best Cars awards took out their categories because they are the safest, best performing, best designed and most cost effective in their fields – congratulations to each of them," Ms Hudson said.

"The Mazda6 Touring is a deserving winner of the Judges' Choice award. It is a safe, easy to drive car that perform well in all driving conditions.

It's not hard to see why this car is so popular with Australian consumers. "The beauty of Australia's Best Cars is that it provides solid consumer advice to a broad price range of popular vehicles – form luxury European designs to affordable hatchbacks.

The public can be assured that if it's an Australian Best Cars winner, it's safe, drives great and good value for money."

The Australia's Best Cars Program sets the benchmark for rigor and independence, and is most highly trusted by the almost 1 in 3 Australians who are members of motoring and mobility clubs.

Today's winners and each of the finalists, can be rightly proud, not only of their achievement in the program, but also of the quality of the products they are offering Australians.
