Weekly special

Crescent Head Holiday Park is an awe inspiring destination for surfers and a holiday haven for nature lovers.

It's positioned beside one of the best surfing beaches in Australia and protected from the elements by pristine bushland. With on site facilities including a shop and laundry, plus the cafes and restaurants of Crescent Head nearby, it’s an ideal base when visiting the scenic Macleay Valley Coast.

The park

The laidback seaside town of Crescent Head is just 40 minutes’ drive from Kempsey, 3.5 hours from Newcastle or five hours from Sydney. The park is situated on the peninsula from which the town takes its name and sits beside a creek, just a few metres back from Killick Beach with commanding views of the Pacific Ocean’s coastline stretching north. There’s plenty of space to stretch out at the park, including an outdoor day area and a boat ramp and barbecue facilities for an oceanfront feast. Practical amenities include a laundry, shop and dump point. The park welcomes dogs outside high season, a dog friendly policy does apply.

The accommodation

All campsites at the park are powered and generously sized at about 8m x 10m, making them suitable for campervans, caravans, motor homes and tents. Choose from various locations, including creek side and surf facing sites. One and two bedroom bungalows, both of which sleep five, are spread throughout the park (including some with ocean views). They feature kitchenettes, TVs with DVD players and covered balconies with furniture. Some two bedroom bungalows also include a spa bath. Enjoy a spacious two-bedroom villa and take advantage of the large living rooms, fully equipped kitchenette, spa bath, heating and covered balcony area. There is free wifi available throughout the park and all accommodation types.

The neighbourhood

Killick Beach, in front of the park, is a real crowd pleaser. In addition to its long, slow right hand wave, there is wonderful calm swimming for families at the mouth of tidal Killick Creek, great fishing in the shifting gutters along the shore and a playground, plus kilometres of dazzling white sand to be explored. In addition to Killick Beach (sometimes called Front Beach), there are three other brilliant beaches nearby with fewer visitors. For some inland exercise, explore the rare rainforest near the park on the Big Hill track – it’s an easy one hour walk and you might spot the threatened and well camouflaged ground parrot. When you’ve worked up an appetite, check out the SurfSliders Kiosk located at the Surf Club, it serves up delicious milkshakes and a mean bacon and egg roll. Green Room Café and Fruit also does great coffee and smoothies as well as offering fresh fruit for sale. The Crescent Head Tavern and Crescent Head Country Club are reliable venues for an afternoon beverage.
