On Sunday, NRMA Motoring & Services' Byron Bay Country Service Centre (CSC) On Sunday, NRMA Motoring & Services' Byron Bay Country Service Centre (CSC) presented a $2,500 cheque to Brunswick Valley Volunteer Rescue.
NRMA Batteries held a promotion with NRMA's Country Service Centre (CSC) network. For every battery sold over their target, Byron Bay CSC received an entry in the draw to win $2,500 towards a community initiative.
The presentation was made at Byron Bay markets and attended by volunteers from Brunswick Valley Volunteer Rescue and NRMA representatives.
NRMA President and local Director Wendy Machin was delighted that Brunswick Valley Volunteer Rescue was the beneficiary of Byron Bay CSC's outstanding battery sales.
"It's fantastic that NRMA Bryon Bay and NRMA Batteries are so willing to support local community initiatives and groups. Brunswick Valley Volunteer Rescue is the only volunteer service in NSW accredited by the State Rescue Board for all forms of rescue," Ms Machin said.
"It will be great to see the positive impact this donation will make to the volunteer squad.
"They will use the money to keep their outstanding road, sea and radio rescue operation going - a service that has helped keep Byron Shire residents and holiday makers safe for 30 years."
NRMA Batteries will conduct four CSC promotions throughout 2009 whereby $20,000 will be donated to eight community groups in regional NSW.
Four NRMA CSC's have already provided a total of $10,000 in donations to local community groups. This money has gone towards equipment for special needs children in Casino and Yamba, a water jump for an equestrian centre in Nyngan, solar panels for a church in Bega and a swimming pool enclosure at Pambula.
NRMA Batteries looks forward to continued assistance of local communities.
