NRMA Motoring & Services wants you to think about the amazing work of volunteers in your community and nominate them for an NRMA Helping People Award today.
Four outstanding volunteers from NSW and the ACT who volunteer for a charity or not-for-profit organisation will each be recognised for their work with a $5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a great Australian getaway for two through NRMA's travel businesses.
NRMA President Wendy Machin said in difficult economic times it was important to reward the volunteers who keep putting their hands up to help despite any financial hardships they might be experiencing themselves.
"Too often it takes a disaster like the recent bushfires in Victoria and the tireless efforts shown by volunteer fire fighters for people to stop a moment and think about just how much volunteers help their communities," Ms Machin said.
"Now is the chance for people who know someone whose volunteer work should be recognised to nominate them for an NRMA Helping People Award."
Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following award categories until Friday 10 July 2009:
Ms Machin said the winners of last year's NRMA Helping People Awards are truly inspiring individuals whose charity work makes a difference in their communities.
"These committed people continue to volunteer at their chosen charities - St John Ambulance in Pitt Town, National Parks Association of NSW in Como, Youth Insearch in Bligh Park and Glenreagh Heartstart," Ms Machin said.
"There are thousands of volunteers in NSW and the ACT who also deserve recognition and now is your chance to nominate someone and see that they get it."
