Motorists can dob in misbehaving oil companies who over-charge for petrol this June long weekend by reporting them on NRMA Motoring & Services' RoadTube website.
NRMA analysis shows that prices should not exceed an average of $1.28 per litre for unleaded petrol over the weekend, with prices at the highest end of the market not exceeding $1.33.
NRMA President Wendy Machin said service stations charging in excess of these prices should be reported to the public via NRMA's RoadTube website.
"Protecting Australians from a public holiday petrol rip off has become routine for the NRMA and this June long weekend we want all Australians to help us keep the oil companies in line," Ms Machin said.
"We know that prices shouldn't exceed an average of $1.28 for unleaded fuel and if families see prices higher they should record it on their mobile phone or note down the details and upload them on RoadTube.
"Evidence of oil companies behaving badly can be uploaded via video, photos on your mobile phone or by blogging and the NRMA will provide a full report to the Petrol Commissioner next week."
The NRMA ran a similar campaign over the Easter long weekend. Petrol prices were also the lowest they had been on a public holiday for three years.
"We know the oil companies don't like being watched and after the Easter period we have no reason to believe they will misbehave this long weekend," Ms Machin said.
"However it's important that we work together to make sure Australian families don't get over-charged at the pump and so we are calling on all Australian motorists to keep a watchful eye over the next few days."
Prices are expected to fall to an average of $1.21 on the Monday of the long weekend when families are returning home.
Drivers are reminded to pull over before using their phone if no passengers are in the vehicle.
Prices are for Sydney metropolitan areas. NRMA's analysis is based on movements in the international benchmark, Singapaore Mogas, and the Australian dollar.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
