Lemon Tree Passage local, six year-old Mackenzie-Rose Foster now has $2,500 towards vital stem cell replacement for Batten disease courtesy of a donation by NRMA Lemon Tree Passage and NRMA Batteries.
NRMA Batteries conducts four NRMA Country Service Centre (CSC) promotions throughout the year whereby $20,000 is donated to eight community groups in regional NSW.
For every battery sold over their target, each CSC receives an entry into a state-wide draw to win $2,500 towards a community initiative. NRMA Lemon Tree Passage was last month's lucky winner.
NRMA Lemon Tree Passage decided to donate the money to Mackenzie-Rose, who suffers from Batten disease - a rare neurodegenerative disorder that begins in childhood.
The presentation will be made at NRMA Lemon Tree Passage this Wednesday and attended by Mackenzie-Rose, her family and NRMA representatives.
NRMA President Wendy Machin was pleased that Mackenzie-Rose was the beneficiary of NRMA Lemon Tree Passage's outstanding battery sales.
"It's fantastic that NRMA Lemon Tree Passage and NRMA Batteries support members of their local communities by donating funds to support them through difficult times," Ms Machin said.
This year, NRMA CSC's have already provided $15,000 in donations to local community groups. This money has gone towards initiatives including equipment for special needs children in Casino and Yamba, a swimming pool enclosure at Pambula, medical equipment at Gilgandra Lodge and school equipment for Gilgandra High School.
