ANCAP Crash Tests

ANCAP Crash Tests

What are ANCAP crash tests?

The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) gives consumers consistent information on the level of occupant protection provided by vehicles in serious front and side crashes.

The program is supported by Australian and New Zealand automobile clubs, all State government road and transport authorities, the New Zealand Government and the FIA Foundation.

There have been minor changes to the test protocols followed from year to year since ANCAP adopted the European New Car Assessment Program (EuroNCAP) scoring system in 1999. More information on test protocol changes...

NRMA Motoring & Services says that Australians are being shortchanged when it comes to safety features on cars manufactured overseas. Earning 5-star safety ratings were the Audi Q5, the 2009 Ford Focus and the Skoda Superb.

Also tested were the Suzuki Alto and the Kia Cerato, both of which earned a 4-star safety rating.
