Connected vehicles can improve safety, mobility and convenience, but they also collect and share large amounts of personal and vehicle data. Connected vehicles are transforming the way Australians travel, offering safer, smarter and more convenient journeys. But they are also collecting unprecedented amounts of personal and vehicle data. Many motorists do not know what information is being collected, where it is stored or how it is being used.
The NRMA supports innovation, but Australians deserve clear privacy rights, stronger cyber security protections and greater control over their vehicle data. It's time for rules that give motorists the same confidence in connected technology as they have in the vehicles themselves.
