The NRMA has welcomed the NSW Government’s announcement of $5.9 million in funding for EV Charging across regional NSW, including four fast charging sites built in partnership with the NRMA.

The planned sites are located in Huskisson, Murwillumbah, Ulladulla and Kempsey and will include a combined 16 new charging ports. Each of these sites is located in regional areas where additional EV charging will deliver benefits to the local community and support key tourism routes.

The funding boost from the NSW Government will further support NRMA’s existing EV charging network across Australia, giving more EV drivers the confidence to travel across regional NSW with reliable charging facilities.

The new locations were selected through a competitive process by the NSW Government. The NRMA will now progress delivery including site design, approvals and installation.

The NRMA support’s the NSW Government’s continued investment in charging locations across the state. This support enables the NRMA to accelerate delivery, reduce range anxiety and ensure communities benefit from the transition to electric.

At each new charging location, drivers can expect modern equipment, accessible design features and safe, convenient sites that are easy to find. This work is in addition to the existing EV charging roll-out by the NRMA in partnership with governments across Australia.

NRMA Acting Chief Operating Officer, Ian Cosgrove said the additional funding allows the NRMA to deliver reliable fast charging in more regional areas.

“This investment strengthens our commitment to building a reliable and accessible EV network that supports local tourism, local economies and the shift to electric transport,” Mr Cosgrove said.

“We excited to be working with the NSW Government and look forward to delivering these new sites. This is another positive step in giving communities the confidence to make the shift to electric transport.”

Planning and work on the four new charging locations is expected to begin in the next 12 months.
