Ford Australia has issued a recall notice for 29,874 vehicles due to a defect involving their rear-view cameras.
The best-selling Ranger ute, and Everest SUV, as well as the Mustang coupe and convertible, Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, F-150 large ute, and Transit and Transit Custom vans are all included in the recall.
Vehicles produced between 2022 and 2024 are affected.
According to the original recall notice, which can be viewed here, a software issue glitch can result in the image from the rear-view camera not properly displaying when the vehicle is put in reverse gear. “If the rear-view camera does not operate as intended while reversing the vehicle, it could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to persons located behind the vehicle,” the recall notes.
Involved customers will be contacted in writing by Ford Australia and requested to book their vehicle into an authorised dealer to have the issue rectified free of charge.
