Frequently asked questions

What is the EV battery health check from the NRMA?
Our EV battery health check gives you a clear and independent report outlining everything you need to know about your EV battery. It’s a simple way for buyers, sellers and owners to check the safety, efficiency and reliability of an EV, so you can make decisions with confidence.
What is the difference between an EV battery health check and a vehicle inspection?
A traditional vehicle inspection looks at your car’s overall condition including brakes, tyres, and lights. Our EV battery health check focuses specifically on the battery’s health.
Why should I test my EV battery?
Your EV battery can wear down over time. Driving habits, charging patterns, age and even weather can all play a part. You should test your EV battery if you want to gain a better insight into how your battery is really performing, beyond what your car might tell you.
What information is included in the EV battery health test report?
You’ll receive a battery health score out of 100, your EV’s current battery capacity, and any potential issues that might affect performance or lifespan.
How do I know if the battery health check will work on my EV?
Our service is designed to work with a wide range of makes and models. We cover over 90% of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the Australian market.
Does the EV battery health check include plug-in hybrid EVs?
Yes, the EV battery health check is available for both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) aren’t currently supported. We check the vehicle’s eligibility before testing to make sure everything’s good to go.
How is this different from my EV’s built-in diagnostics?
Some EVs offer self-testing features, but they can be limited or unreliable. Our battery health check is independent, accurate and gives you trusted, neutral insights to help you make confident decisions.
Who should use the EV battery health check test?
The battery health is a great choice for those who are buying, selling or simply wanting to stay on top of their EV’s performance.
Where is the EV battery health check test available?
Our EV battery health check is currently available in Sydney Metro areas (ACT coming soon), on weekdays from 8am-4pm. One of our trained Patrols will come to you at a time and place that suits you.
How can I book a test?
Simply book your EV battery health check online. We’ll confirm your appointment within 24 hours.
Do I need to prepare anything before my EV battery health check test?

To ensure a smooth test:

  • Park in an area with mobile coverage: This helps with data transmission during the check. Avoid underground car parks or areas with poor signal.
  • Keep the vehicle on ground level: Ideally, the car should be parked outdoors or in a location with clear access to mobile networks.
  • Ensure the battery has some charge: The vehicle doesn’t need to be fully charged, but it should have enough power to run basic systems.
  • Be present during the check: The registered owner (or someone with access and authority) should be available to assist if needed.
