Two huge effigy bonfires will illuminate the ski dam on Lake Forbes as the central NSW town celebrates its sixth annual ‘Frost and Fire’ event on Saturday, June 21.
Held on the day of the southern hemisphere’s Winter Solstice and running from 4pm to 10pm, Frost and Fire is Forbes’ biggest cultural event with live music, fire dancers, toasty fire buckets, hearty local foods and boutique brews.
This year’s Frost and Fire promises to be the biggest yet, with new performances by the Boganbila Culturals and a mouth-watering line-up of live music that includes iconic Australian bands such as The Wolfe Brothers and Ripley Alexander sharing a stage with regional talent including the Bake Boys Band, Easy Goin and Foxxy Cleopatra.
The climax of the night will be a spectacular pyrotechnics display from Flux Entertainment.
Local bars and hotels are getting into the spirit and will be offering signature Frost and Fire cocktails – the ideal drink before or after the show.
Built on the shores of the Lachlan River, Forbes has goldrush and bushranger history, as well as unique modern attractions including Sculpture Down the Lachlan, Gum Swamp Wildlife Refuge and McFeeters Motor Museum.
Tickets to Frost and Fire cost $30, while under-18s are free. For more information or to buy tickets, go to www.amazingforbesnsw.com/frost-and-fire/.
