What are the benefits of our battery warranty?

The NRMA offers a nationwide warranty of:

Up to 3 years on batteries for private use vehicles.
1 year on batteries for business vehicles that are used for commercial purposes.
6 months on batteries fitted to courier vehicles and 3 months on batteries fitted to taxi vehicles.
5 years on all battery chargers.

With mobile 24/7 battery replacement service.

Coverage applies to defects in material or workmanship within the specified warranty period. Your battery warranty period is specified on your NRMA invoice.

Whenever we're carrying out work on your vehicle, we'll always take the necessary precautions to prevent any damage. Unfortunately, we can't accept responsibility for damage that is not related to the battery fitment.

Discharged or flat batteries

If your battery has been diagnosed as discharged or flat, getting it back to a full charge as soon as possible can help prevent permanent damage. Modern vehicles aren’t designed to recharge a flat battery, but only to replenish it.

You’ll need to charge your car battery using a suitable charger to return it back to full charge. Failure to do this could result in premature battery failure.

The NRMA reserves the right to test any battery that’s presented for a warranty claim and will not accept any third-party testing results.

Making a warranty claim

If you believe your battery is defective and within warranty, please contact us on 13 11 22 for an assessment and free replacement, if eligible.

You will need a copy of your original NRMA issued invoice.

Getting the most out of your battery

Keeping your battery fully charged and in good condition will help it last longer and can save you money down the track. Here’s how:

Drive regularly: Aim for at least an hour of driving every week to keep your battery charged.
Check lights and electronics: Always turn off interior and exterior lights and electronics when the engine is off.
Service your vehicle: Regular engine servicing helps prevent premature battery failure. You can also have the alternator and battery charging system checked during your regular scheduled service.
Avoid short trips: Frequent short drives don’t allow the battery to fully recharge, especially with heavy accessory use.
Keep terminals clean: Ensure your mechanic cleans your battery terminals regularly to prevent corrosion and improve performance.
