Just 1.5 hours north of Newcastle, it’s the ideal escape from city life. Head to nearby Hawks Nest, just 20 minutes’ drive, for the Dark Point walking track. The trail takes you through dunes and alongside middens to Dark Point Aboriginal Place, which has been a significant gathering place for the Worimi peoples for more than 4000 years.Afterwards, drive across the “singing” bridge (named for its tendency to act as a wind harp during strong south westerlies) to the picturesque village of Tea Gardens. The Tea Gardens Boatshed has been serving locals and visitors their Boatshed Big Brekkie for more than 15 years.
