Current fuel prices and prediction

• The current average price for regular unleaded fuel in Sydney is 165.4 cents per litre (Monday evening).
• Average regular unleaded prices have been rising since Wednesday 1 July with the halving of the fuel excise discount.
• Current average diesel price is 187.7 cents per litre.
• Regional prices: Last week average prices for regular unleaded rose 9.9 cents per litre and diesel prices rose 9.0 cents per litre.

World Crude Oil Prices

Over the previous week the average:

• Tapis crude fell $US 3.0 per barrel to $US 76.5 per barrel.
• Mogas (unleaded price benchmark) fell $US 3.1 per barrel to $US 99.0 per barrel.
• Gasoil (diesel price benchmark) rose $US 2.5 per barrel to $US 115.0 per barrel.

Sydney Wholesale Prices

Over the previous week the average for:

• Regular unleaded rose 17.0 cents per litre to 164.4 cents per litre.
• Diesel fuel rose 21.1 cent per litre to 182.2 cents per litre.

Sydney Diesel Prices

Sydney diesel prices rose 11.1 cents per litre this past week. Current average diesel price is 187.7 cents per litre. 

Looking Ahead

Average regular unleaded prices have been rising since Wednesday 1 July with the halving of the fuel excise discount.

Prices expected to rise a further 3 cents per litre in Sydney over the next week or so. Regional price increases in the order of at least 6 cents per litre will take longer to pass through - It is dependent of when retailers replenish their stock.

Average regular unleaded prices – 165.4 cents per litre – have fallen 92.4 cents per litre from the 30 March high of 257.8 cents per litre.

The average price increase for E10, Premium 95 and Premium 98 are as follows:

• E10 – 163.8 cents per litre have fallen 91.9 cents per litre from the 30 March high of 255.7 cents per litre.
• Premium 95  – 182.9 cents per litre have fallen 91.5 cents per litre from the 30 March high of 274.4 cents per litre.
• Premium 98  – 190.6 cents per litre have fallen 92.1 cents per litre from the 30 March high of 282.7 cents per litre.

Sydney’s current average diesel price at 187.7 cents per litre. Price rises in the order of 6-8 cents per litre - expected over the next few weeks.

The current average LPG price in Sydney is 114.4 cents per litre – up 0.4 cents per litre this past week.
