Nissan Australia has called last drinks for its storied Y62 Nissan Patrol, confirming final orders of the outgoing model will be taken in coming weeks ahead of the Y63 replacement’s arrival in 2027.
The Japanese marque says final production of the outgoing model will wrap up in August in Japan as it makes way for the new Y63, which ditches the incumbent V8 for a more powerful 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 and a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Customers will have until then to place an order on one of the last Y62 examples, pending availability, Nissan Australia confirmed this week.
“As we look ahead to the all-new to Australia Y63 later this year, the run-out of the Y62 represents a genuine ‘last chance’ moment for Australians who want to add a new V8 Patrol to their garage,” said Steve Milette, Nissan Oceania managing director.
“The Patrol has earned its reputation for exceptional towing and off-road capability, effortless performance and proven durability — qualities that will likely make the Patrol V8 a highly sought-after collector’s item once remaining stock is gone.”
The Y62 has been a staple in Nissan’s Australian line-up since its introduction in 2013, where it was initially sold alongside another Aussie favourite, the Y61 Patrol.
The Y62 immediately made an impression, fitted with a 5.6-litre V8 that introduced big benefits in a segment defined by towing and off-road ability – albeit with a fuel bill to match.
The Y62 has since grown to become one of Nissan’s most popular products, arguably improving with age and expanding its role with the introduction of an Australian-engineered flagship with the Nissan Patrol Warrior – co-developed by Melbourne-based Premcar.
“Patrol Warrior takes the Y62's V8 platform and adds purposeful upgrades for Australian conditions, including locally engineered suspension tuning, increased ground clearance, all-terrain tyres on bespoke wheels and exterior styling enhancements,” Nissan officials said.
“Notably, a bi-modal side-exit exhaust system gives the Patrol Warrior the perfect soundtrack — quiet and refined while cruising, yet unleashing a deep, unmistakable V8 note under hard acceleration.”
Manufacturing of the Y62 Patrol Warrior is said to wrap up sometime in the fourth quarter, shortly after the regular Patrol.
Nissan officials say prospective customers interested in securing a new Y62 Patrol or Patrol Warrior are encouraged to visit their local Nissan dealership.
“Stock is finite, with availability varying by grade and dealer,” the manufacturer said
The order book for the new Y63 Nissan Patrol will open from later this year, with the first deliveries slated for the first half of 2027.
