The bright and airy Travelodge Hotel Rockhampton is situated on the banks of the Fitzroy River in the heart of town, just moments from attractions, shops and dining.

With resort style amenities, such as balconies in each guest room and an outdoor pool, plus practical facilities including a laundry and gym, it’s a supremely comfortable place to stay.

The hotel

Situated on the western bank of the Fitzroy River, the hotel is just 10 minutes’ drive from Rockhampton Airport. Many of the 74 guest rooms boast sweeping views of Rockhampton and the river. A 24 hour reception, with luggage storage, makes arrivals and departures easy, and the knowledgeable staff can help arrange dinner reservations or trips to nearby Great Keppel Island. Onsite facilities include the large outdoor pool, plus a spa, modern gym and conference and wedding facilities. There’s also a breakfast restaurant and communal laundry.

The rooms

Each of the stylish guest rooms has a balcony so guests can take advantage of Rockhampton’s long, sunny days. The standard queen guest room includes creature comforts such as a bathroom with tub, TV with cable and individually controlled air conditioning, plus some rooms have river views (specify when booking). Upgrade to a top floor queen executive suite for an additional spacious lounge area with sofa and dining table plus river views from the balcony. Or book a family room to comfortably sleep four. Each guest room features travellers’ essentials, such as a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee facilities, and a minibar.

The neighbourhood

Begin your exploration of Rockhampton with a 12 minute drive out to the riverside Glenmore Homestead. This heritage listed property has been transformed into an atmospheric function space and its current owners also offer guided tours. Book a seat at the homestead’s famed Big Beef Bush Breakfast for a true taste of pioneer history. A few minutes from the hotel are the Archer Park Rail Museum and the CQ Military & Artefacts Museum, both of which are well worth a quick visit. Be sure to set aside plenty of time to stroll through Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, a 10 minute drive away. It’s considered one of the finest gardens in regional Australia and contains excellent examples of palms, cycads and ferns. Within the gardens you’ll find Rockhampton Zoo, which specialises in native and tropical animals – the feeding shows are a must for kids. And if all that feeding makes you hungry, visit local haunts Pacino’s for authentic Italian, and The Edge for mod Oz, served from early until late.
